The inaugural flight on the Abuja-Casablanca route, operated by Royal Air Maroc (RAM) took off on Sunday from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The inauguration was marked by the traditional «water salute» ceremony, attended by Morocco's ambassador to Nigeria, Moha Ou Ali Tagma, RAM's regional representative in Nigeria, Ahmed Anouar Boussouf, the Director of Operations at Abuja International Airport, Oyenekan Oloyede, and several other personalities. This new direct route, with a planned frequency of 3 flights a week (Tuesday, Friday and Sunday), is expected to boost trade and tourism between Nigeria and Morocco. On this occasion, many of the flight's passengers expressed their joy and satisfaction at the inauguration of this direct route serving Casablanca from the Nigerian capital.
