According to diplomatic sources within the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the joint working group established in April 2022 has already held two meetings. «A technical commission has also been set up to address technical and security cooperation details related to airspace management in the province», the sources told OK Diario. Spain's recognition of negotiations with Morocco regarding airspace control came on March 22nd, 2023. The government, responding to a Senator's inquiry, confirmed that «discussions with Morocco on this issue have begun». According to the government, «negotiations relate to airspace management and coordination between the two parties to enhance security in connections and technical cooperation». Point 7 of the April 7th, 2022, Moroccan-Spanish Joint Declaration states that «discussions concerning airspace management will be initiated» between the two countries.
