Berlin appears ready to finalize a migration agreement with Rabat, according to German media reports this week. The Federal Government's Special Representative for Migration announced that a deal aimed at curbing irregular arrivals in Germany will soon be struck with Morocco. «I'm happy to report that we've agreed on comprehensive cooperation with Morocco regarding migration», the representative told newspaper Der Pionier. «Through trust and partnership, we'll work together to reduce irregular migration, benefiting both countries while strengthening legal pathways into the German labor market», he added. He further emphasized the desire to «create more order through collaboration and clear control, ultimately improving migration management». He and German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser have collaborated on securing this deal through several visits to Morocco. The agreement will additionally address human smuggling and facilitate skilled worker recruitment. Faeser remarked, «Skilled immigration from Morocco to Germany offers a win-win scenario for both nations».
