الجالية المغربية بأميركا ترسال مركز كينيدي

وجهت الجالية المغربية الأميركية رسالة مفتوحة إلى مركز كينيدي للعدالة وحقوق الإنسان تندد فيها بالحملات العدائية التي يشنها المركز المذكور ضد المغرب ووحدته الترابية وكان مركز كينيدي قد استضاف في عدة مناسبات أميناتو حيدر ورشحها لتسلم عدة جوائزكما يعتبر المركز المذكور من الداعمين الأساسيين لأطروحة الإنفصاليين في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية.
واكد رئيس نادي واشنطن المغربي الأميركي السيد حسن السمغوني أن الجالية المغربية الأميركية على استعداد لفتح حوار لتوضيح كل أنواع اللبس وعرض وجهة نظر المغاربة الأميركيين تجاه مناورات الساسة الجزائريين وجماعة البوليساريو المدعومة من قبلهم.
ويتوجه نادي واشنطن المغربي الأميركي بنداء إلى كافة المغاربة للمشاركة في هذه الحملة التحسيسية وذلك بالتوقيع على الرسالة المفتوحة والتي لا تعدو تكون أسلوبا حضاريا يثبت بها الشعب المغربي للراي العام الأميركي و للعالم بأن ما يروج له أعداء الوحدة الترابية المغربية إنما يدخل ضمن مخطط محبوك من قبل الجزائر وان ما تقوم به المدعوة أمينة حيدر هو جزء من مسرحية هدفها القفز فوق الشرعية الدولية وتعطيل المفاوضات التي ترعاها الأمم المتحدة وطرح المغرب بموجبها مشروع الحكم الذاتي تحت السيادة المغربية للأقاليم الجنوبية.

Dear Mrs. Kennedy:
The Moroccan-American community is surprised and saddened by the recent statements and activities of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights. Viewed from the outside, it would appear as if the RFK Center has begun to wage a war against Morocco and its sovereignty.
Because of the great respect held by the Moroccan-American community for the work and mission of the RFK Center, we are writing to clarify what must be misunderstandings on your and RFK's part to the situation in the Sahara in general and with Aminatu Haidar specifically.
Mrs. Kennedy, you may remember that the Kingdom of Morocco was the first country in the world to recognize the independence of the United States of America. Moroccan-Americans take great pride in living in America, in our democratic society, and in the mutual history of Morocco and the United States. We uphold our civic duties, and our children fearlessly defend democracy in the United States Armed Forces. Moroccan-Americans stand for democracy in the United States and in Morocco. Unfortuantely, Aminatu Haidar stands for democracy nowhere.
As you know, “Western Sahara" is a territory of Morocco. The people in Laayoune, Dakhla, Boujdour, and other parts of the Sahara are proud to be Moroccans. Mrs. Kennedy, were you to ever visit the region whose independence you so actively advocate, you would hear from its people that a reputable organization such as yours should not support a woman whose agenda is politically based. You would also hear from the mouths of these people that Aminatu Haidar does not speak for or represent them. They would tell you – as we tell you now – that Aminatu Haidar only speaks for herself and for Algeria. The people of the Sahara would beg you to focus instead on the human rights abuses being committed in the camps of Tindouf in Algeria, where there are thousands of people whose voices are blackened by Haidar and her supporter, Algeria.
The international community recognizes the “Western Sahara” issue as a matter of political concern. To advocate on behalf of Aminatu Haidar is to take a political position, not a human rights one. The Moroccan-American community is concerned that the RFK Center's continuing support for Aminatu Haidar not only serves to create diplomatic problems between the United States and Morocco, Spain and Morocco and the United States and Spain, but also serves to harm the otherwise spotless reputation of the RFK Center for promotion of justice and democracy.
Even though she has been referred to as a “peaceful victim,” Aminatu Haidar confessed to the Spanish daily newspaper Vigo on November 20, 2009 that she was responsible for uprisings and violent events. If she is such a peaceful victim, then why does she take credit for uprisings that ended in violence?
A self-proclaimed Sahrawi rights activist, Aminatu Haidar was not even born in the "Western Sahara" region. Haidar was one of the very first beneficiaries of the Moroccan government's program to compensate the victims of human rights abuses suffered by some Moroccans from 1958 to 1999. Like others from different parts of Morocco, Haidar received significant financial compensation from the Moroccan authorities for the years she spent in prison. She even went on to work for the government's human rights organization, Conseil Consultatif des Droits de l'Homme.
Haidar has met with Algerian government officials in the United States and other countries. A woman who traveled with a Moroccan passport wrapped in the Algerian flag renounced her Moroccan citizenship and, instead of being arrested for breaking Moroccan law, was offered three options to return to Morocco: with a Moroccan passport; with a Spanish passport; or with a traveling document issued by the Spanish government as a refugee.
The Government of Morocco provided Haidar with the opportunity to apply for a new passport to replace the one she discarded, a process which any citizen of any country would have to follow. Yet Haidar refused each of these options.
Despite Haidar being given opportunities that go above and beyond the norm, you are pressing the Moroccan people to let her enter her own country without a passport, which violates both American and international standards.
Mrs. Kennedy, we are immigrants to this country and much of the time our friends are denied visas to visit the USA. The Moroccan-American community cannot but find it unfair that Haidar, who willingly renounced her Moroccan citizenship and refused opportunities to receive a new passport, should be able to return to her home country of Morocco without a Moroccan passport. What message does this send to those who abide by the law?
We ask on behalf of all Moroccan-Americans that you respect those who respect the law and not reward those who break them. We ask that you review your support of political actors like Aminatu Haidar – and restore dignity to the human rights defenders who have earned it.
