Five individuals, aged 23 to 31, suspected of alleged involvement in robbery, breaking and entering, and international drug trafficking, were arrested over the weekend, during a joint operation carried out by the services of the judicial police of Tangier and Chefchaouen, on the basis of accurate information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance. On April 9, the Tangier judicial police had noted the theft from an apartment of a hunting rifle, several cartridges and personal effects, said the National Police (DGSN) in a press release, adding that the investigations made it possible to identify two alleged perpetrators, with multiple criminal records, and the arrest of a third individual, who allegedly bought and sold some of the stolen objects, including the rifle. Under the investigations, two people were arrested on Sunday in a village in the rural commune of Bab Berred, near Chefchaouen, said the same source, stressing that the search operations helped find the hunting rifle and the cartridges stolen from one of the suspects, as well as the seizure of a vehicle loaded with two tonnes and 563 kilograms of chira and four other vehicles with forged license plates. The five suspects were taken into custody as part of the investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecution to identify the possible ramifications of these criminal activities, the press release concluded.
