Health Minister Anas Doukkali and some Chinese officials discussed, on Sunday in Shanghai, the creation of a Chinese-Moroccan center for traditional medicine. The said center, which will be set up in Casablanca, is part of projects planned under the «Belt and road» initiative, said Chinese officials from the National Health Commission in their presentation before the Minister, who was visiting the University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shanghai, accompanied by director of hospitals and ambulatory health care at the Health Ministry Abdelilah Boutaleb. The director of university hospitals in the National Health Commission noted that the center will specialize in traditional medicine in its three dimensions, namely treatment, training and scientific research, adding that this institution would be a reference center in North Africa. On this occasion, Doukkali stressed the importance of opening up to the Chinese experience in the field of traditional medicine, noting that Morocco has a big potential in the field of medicinal plants that should be further developed. He said that the University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shanghai and Hassan II University of Casablanca will sign an agreement to establish training sessions in this area. The minister also visited a university hospital in Shanghai, that combines traditional Chinese medicine with modern medicine, to learn about this new practice as well as the Chinese expertise in running public hospitals.
