Head of government Saadeddine El Othmani received, on Tuesday in Rabat, Princess Astrid, representative of King Philippe of Belgium, who is currently on a visit to Morocco along with an important economic delegation. During this meeting, the two parties welcomed the distinguished, long-standing relations of friendship and cooperation between the Kingdoms of Morocco and Belgium, highlighting the existence of important opportunities to boost economic cooperation in different productive sectors, given the potential of the economies of both countries. A statement from the Department of the Head of the Government said that El Othmani underlined, on this occasion, the particular interest that Morocco takes in economic openness on its partners as well as on friendly countries in Africa, Europe and the rest of the world, recalling the free trade agreements signed between the Kingdom and many countries, which have made Morocco an important platform for investment and exploration of foreign markets. El Othmani also stressed the achievements of Morocco in improving its business climate and investment promotion, as evidenced by the leap made by the Kingdom in the WB "Doing Business" ranking, where Morocco has jumped 9 spots in a single year and ranked 60th, with a goal of joining the top 50 Doing Business rankings by 2021, the statement added, noting that these efforts have positively impacted the flow of foreign direct investment, which has improved significantly. El Othmani also praised the Belgian economic delegation, where various sectors are represented, particularly chemistry, renewable energy, transportation and logistics, and health.
