Brazil's decision to vote for the Moroccan bid to host the 2026 World Cup was «shameful», president of the South American Football Confederation Alejandro Dominguez said Tuesday, 10th of July, in a televised interview published by Globo television. Dominguez pointed at the «diplomatic crisis» the confederation is going through because of the FIFA vote. He recalls that the ten football federations that belong to CONMEBOL have all agreed to vote for the North American bid presented by the USA, Canada and Mexico to secure the support of the three nations when bidding for the 2030 World Cup. The decision was made official in April by the President of the confederation himself. However, according to Alejandro Dominguez, Brazil has changed its mind in the last minute, being the only South American country to vote for the North African candidacy. For the record, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay have submitted a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup. The three nations were joined by Morocco, Egypt and England which want to separately host the international tournament.
