The Saudi's Sports Authority's chairman Turki a-Sheikh, close to Crown Prince Mohammed Ben Salmane, has been sending a clear message regarding the Morocco's bid to host the 2026 World Cup. At the end of a meeting he held with Carlos Cordeiro, an American soccer administrator who is currently chairman of the United States-Canada-Mexico bid committee, Turki al-Sheikh praised the North American bidding file, calling it a «strong» one. Cordeiro was on a visit to Ryad to get the support of Saudi Arabia on June the 13th in Moscow. On March the 18th, al-Sheikh has already hinted that his country will not vote for the Moroccan bid. On his Twitter account, he wrote that «if we were asked for support, we would firstly look at what serves Saudi Arabia's best interest», adding that «to be in the grey area is no longer acceptable to us», referring to Morocco's support for Qatar.
