Mohammed V University in Rabat topped on Thursday the list including Moroccan universities ranked by the «QS World University Ranking 2018», an annual publication of university rankings by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). In Africa, the University of Rabat was ranked 45th, while internationally, it was positioned 801st out of the 1,000 universities studied worldwide, said a statement issued by the university. Mohammed V. Continentally, the Cadi Ayyad University was 55th, followed by the Sidi Mohammed Benabdellah (71st), Al Akhawayn (88th), Ibn Tofail (107th), Ibn Zohr (109), Abdelmalek Essâdi (136th), Mohammed Premier (142nd), Hassan II (159th), Moulay Ismail (177th) and Hassan Premier (192nd), said the statement. 18 African universities have also made it to the international ranking, including those in South Africa and Egypt. The ranking is based on several criteria, including the academic reputation, faculty-student ratio and the international vision of the institution, the same source said. Globally, the ranking was mainly topped by US universities, notes the statement, with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology leading the list.
