The Civil Guard has arrested 40 people, 34 men and 6 women from Spain, the UK and Morocco, involved in an international cocaine trafficking network and money laundering, reports La Marina Plaza . They were all arrested in several cities, including Madrid, Melilla, Girona (Catalonia) and Pontevedra (northwestern Spain). Their arrest was carried out as part of a coordinated operation by the Europol and Eurojust agencies, with the collaboration of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the US federal police services responsible for the fight against narcotics and their trafficking. The customs investigation office (ZKA), the German Police, the Italian Carabinieri and the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST) . A total of 1,270 kilograms of cocaine and more than 13 million Euros were seized, as well as numerous movable and immovable properties belonging to persons investigated in Spain. In Morocco, the DGST seized 2,580 kilos of cocaine and dismantled a major criminal organization established between the kingdom and France, led from Venezuela by a Spanish citizen wanted by the police. In addition, 105 kilos of hashish, 18 high-end vehicles and three boats were seized. The investigation began in 2016 when a group of people had been suspected of drug trafficking using sailboats from the Mediterranean border town of Dénia in Spain.
