On Wednesday, law enforcement in Taourirt apprehended a teacher with ties to the extremist ideology of the Daech terrorist organization. The arrest took place in the Sidi Chafi douar area, within the Taourirt province, following intelligence from the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST). This operation underscores the ongoing efforts by security services to mitigate terrorist threats and thwart extremist schemes that endanger the Kingdom's security and stability, as outlined in a statement from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ). A search of the suspect's residence uncovered potentially dangerous chemical materials that could be used to create homemade explosive devices. Among the seized items were vials containing hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, and zinc sulfate, all of which have been sent for forensic analysis. Additionally, authorities found various edged weapons, cell phones, and electronic devices. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect had been gathering information to learn about the materials and techniques needed to manufacture explosives, intending to execute a terrorist plan aimed at severely disrupting public safety and order. The suspect has been transferred to the BCIJ, where he remains in custody for further questioning under the guidance of the terrorism prosecutor's office. The investigation aims to uncover all potential terrorist targets and any connections the suspect may have had with accomplices.
