Ghizlane Chebbak, captain of the Moroccan women's football team, has been named to the Women's African Team of the Year. Unveiled on Monday evening at the CAF Awards 2024 ceremony in Marrakech, the list is dominated by players from Nigeria and South Africa. The striker, who plays for Levante Badalona at the club level, is the sole Moroccan representative. In addition to Ghizlane Chebbak, the Women's Best XI includes South African goalkeeper Andile Dlamini; defenders Michelle Alozie (Nigeria), Karabo Dhlamini (South Africa), Osinachi Ohale (Nigeria), and Lebohang Ramalepe (South Africa); midfielder Linda Motlhalo (South Africa); and forwards Rasheedat Ajibade (Nigeria), Barbra Banda (Zambia), Asisat Oshoala (Nigeria), and Tabitha Chawinga (Malawi). Moroccan women's football was well represented at this year's Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards, held in Marrakech. Bouchra Karboubi was named Best Referee of the Year, Lamia Boumehdi (TP Mazembe) won Best Female Club Coach, Sanaa Messaoudi (AS FAR) was honored as Best Interclub Player, and Doha El Madani (AS FAR) received the Young Player of the Year award.
