At least 18 people died following the heavy thunderstorms currently affecting several provinces of Morocco, according to a press release issued Monday by the Interior Ministry. Of the 18 people who perished in the floods, 10 are from Tata, three from Errachdia (including one Canadian and one Peruvian), two in Tiznit who are of Spanish nationality, and one in Taroudant. In terms of missing persons, four people are listed as missing in the Tata region, and the search for them is ongoing. 56 houses collapsed, of which 27 were completely collapsed. Eight medium technical facilities also suffered total or partial collapse. Damage to electricity, potable water, and telecommunications networks was also reported in the affected areas. Field interventions by technical teams have enabled the repair of a significant portion of the electrical network, while the reconnection of potable water networks and telecommunications services has been fully secured. Temporary interruptions occurred in 110 road sections, but specialized services have so far been able to normalize traffic in 84 of them.
