From November 2024 to March 8, 2025, the Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar will host «Splendours of the Atlas: A Voyage Through Morocco's Heritage». This extensive exhibition will showcase over 200 artworks, offering a comprehensive exploration of Morocco's rich culture. Organized as part of the Qatar-Morocco Year of Culture 2024, the exhibition features a remarkable collection of loaned pieces from Moroccan institutions like the National Foundation of Museums and the National Library of Rabat. Many of these pieces have never before been displayed in Qatar. Additionally, visitors will discover previously unseen treasures from the collections of Qatar Museums, the Museum of Islamic Art, and the future Lusail Museum. Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairwoman of the Years of Culture initiative and of the Board of Trustees of the Museums of Qatar, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Moroccan institutions. She believes this partnership will deepen Qatar's understanding of its North African neighbor's Islamic traditions. Sheikha Nasser Al Nasr, Director of the Museum of Islamic Art, emphasized that the museum is the ideal venue for such a magnificent exhibition, given its dedication to preserving and showcasing Islamic cultures worldwide.
