Sneaker shop Opium Paris has released an original advertising video shot in Morocco. The brand has created a new model of the Air Jordan 1 in collaboration with Nike, the «Jordan Air Ship Zellige». With a Moroccan twist, these sneakers revive the art of traditional zellige, rooted in Morocco's artisanal heritage. The initiative was taken by two French-Moroccans, Mounir and Yace, founders of Opium Paris. The collaborators based their design on a classic model: the Air Jordan, one of the earliest basketball icons. With its Moroccan mosaic motifs on the Nike logo and on the sole, this shoe is a blend of modernity and tradition. In a video shared on social media, Opium Paris showcases the sneakers in a short advertisement shot in Morocco. The video features young Moroccans wearing the new Jordans and passing by a group of old men in their jellabas playing checkers outside and rocking the sneakers. The group then goes to an artisan in a souk to see how he fabricates Zellige, Moroccan tile art. In a post on Instagram, Moroccan-American rapper French Montana congratulated Nike and Opium Paris on the shoe's originality. «We never thought this would ever be done. These sneakers are the official collaboration with Nike and our Moroccan brothers, it has Moroccan zellige on it», he said.
