Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour, Swiss Ambassador Guillaume Scheurer, and OMPIC Director General Abdelaziz Babqiqi recently signed a four-year (2024-2027) agreement to enhance intellectual property (IP) protection in Morocco. This collaboration focuses on bolstering the legal framework surrounding IP rights, improving services for their protection and use, promoting their importance to innovators and businesses, and strengthening enforcement mechanisms. The agreement facilitates the exchange of expertise between the two countries, aiming to equip Moroccan entrepreneurs, creators, and researchers with better tools to safeguard and promote their inventions, creations, and distinctive signs. Additionally, it seeks to modernize Morocco's IP protection system and contribute to national economic growth by leveraging the value of intangible assets held by Moroccan companies. The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) will execute the program in close collaboration with OMPIC as the main partner and other national IP stakeholders. This initiative is expected to foster innovation, attract investment, and ultimately stimulate economic growth in Morocco.
