Early Monday morning, January 15, two Royal Navy combat units intercepted two pirogues carrying a total of 59 sub-Saharan irregular migrants, approximately 172 km northwest and 266 km southwest of Dakhla, respectively. The General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces announced the rescue in a statement. After receiving necessary care, the rescued people, bound for the Canary Islands, were transferred to the Royal Gendarmerie for standard administrative procedures, the source concluded.
