Some 73,973 attempts of irregular migration were foiled in 2019 by Morocco and 208 trafficking networks were dismantled, as part of the fight against irregular migration led by the Kingdom, said a source at the Interior Ministry. As part of the fight against irregular migration, the Kingdom of Morocco continued, in 2019, to make huge efforts, mainly in terms of dismantling migrant trafficking networks and foiling attempts of irregular migration, said the same source, adding that these sustained efforts have also focused on prevention and assistance actions for victims and vulnerable people, crowned by the rescue at sea of 19,554 irregular migrants. These significant results show the central role of the Kingdom and its major contribution in terms of regional security, it said. The Kingdom of Morocco shoulders its full responsibility in terms of solidarity-based migration management and works with its partners to give concrete substance to the principle of shared responsibility, the same source noted.
