Police services in the city of Guelmim arrested, on Wednesday, based on accurate information by the directorate general of national territorial surveillance, three people for their alleged involvement in cases of international drug trafficking, illegal immigration organization and the issuing of bad checks. The search procedures in the security databases revealed that one of the three suspects was wanted at the national level in the case of the eight tons of chira seized last October near Guelmim, while another is wanted by a national arrest warrant for issuing bad checks, said a statement from the national police (DGSN). The investigations also led to the arrest of a third person implicated in the organization of illegal immigration and human trafficking, and who agreed with the first suspect to purchase an inflatable boat and navigation equipment to facilitate illegal immigration to the Canary Islands, along with other would-be immigrants, said the DGSN. The three suspects, aged 30, 33 and 40, were remanded in police custody to complete the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office in order to determine all criminal charges of which they are accused, and shed light on the circumstances of this case, the statement concluded.
