According to several German sources, the driver is a 49-year-old man who is psychologically disturbed. «The assailant has tried before to commit suicide», according to ZDF TV channel while Süddeutsche Zeitung, a German daily newspaper said that the authorities have not found elements proving that it was a terror attack, reports Midi Libre. «Nothing indicates for the moment that we are dealing with terror-related motives», stressed Interior Minister of the Münsten region relayed by 20 Minutes. Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer will visit the city today. The assailant was identified as Jens R., a resident of Münsten living not far from the spot where the attack took place. In the van, the authorities managed to find only the driver's weapon «a gun and big fireworks, whose powder can be used to make an explosive». While in the driver's apartment, investigators discovered a AK-47, said the police. According to the ZDF channel, the attacker had links with far-right groups.
