The UN Secretary-General has sent members of the Security Council his annual report on Western Sahara. The final copy is similar to the preliminary one released on March 29th. In his report Antonio Guterres called members of the Security Council to extend the MINURSO's mandate for another year, until April the 30th 2019. The Portuguese diplomat emphasized that , «the socio-economic, humanitarian and security consequences of this protracted conflict weigh heavily on regional and sub regional integration». In his report, the Secretary General reported only incursions of Polisario armed elements in Guerguerate, but without mentioning the presence of militiamen in other buffer zones. The presentation of this document will be followed by the drafting of a resolution by a member of the «Friends of the Western Sahara Club», before submitting it to the other members of the Security Council during the meetings on the 17th and 25th of April.
