The Minurso mission have deployed its elements in Guerguerat after the Polisario Front withdrew its militias from the area. The move came merely a few hours after the UN security council adopted a new resolution on the Moroccan Sahara conflict. The area, consequently, returns to the status quo that prevailed before the 14th of August 2016. For the record, Morocco removed in February 2017 it's troops from the Guerguerat buffer strip. As a result, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres urged the Polisario to fully leave the zone. On April the 11th, Guterres called for talks between Morocco and the separatist movement in a report submitted to the UN Security Council for review.
