Morocco is ranked 12th in Africa by the 2017 Ibrahim Index of African Governance. According to the annual survey, the kingdom is witnessing an increasing improvement especially at the Economic level. Morocco is one of the top 10 most improved countries in Africa, according to the 2017 Ibrahim Index of African Governance. The annual report that provides assessment of the quality of governance in African countries, ranked Morocco 12th out of 54. The Kingdom has scored 60.1 out of 100 points. Based on four major indexes, the survey established in 2007, indicates that Morocco has shown increasing improvement in the period between 2007 and 2016. Accordingly, Morocco moved from a score of 54.2 in 2007 to 60.1 in 2016. Meanwhile, the North African country is positioned 7th in the list of the top ten most improved nations in the continent in terms of good governance. The same ranking was topped by Cote d'Ivoire 1st followed by Togo, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Kenya, and Liberia. For the first index, Safety and Rule of Law, based on 4 other subindixes namely, Rule of Law, Accountability, Personal Safety and National Security, Morocco was ranked 14. It was positioned 33rd in the Participation and Human Rights index divided into three sub-categories : Participation, Rights and Gender. Ranked 2nd by the Sustainable Economic Opportunity indicator For the Sustainable Economic Opportunity indicator Morocco was positioned 2nd in the list based on four sub-indicators : Public Management, Business Environment, Infrastructure and Rural Sector. The Kingdom was 13th in the Human Development index divided into three categories : Welfare, Health and Education. Morocco has bettered its score compared to the previous year, when it only collected 58.6 points. Morocco's best score remains connected to the Sustainable Economic Opportunity with 68.2 points. On the other hand, Participation and Human Rights index remains one of the least performing categories for the country with 44.2 points. Regionally, Algeria was ranked 22nd by the same report with 53.6 points. Tunisia performed better scoring 65.5 and positioned 7th in the continent. Mauritania was 44th with 44.5 points. Libya was left behind as it was positioned 49th with 33.3 points. The overall ranking was topped by Mauritius 1st, followed by Seychelles 2nd, Botswana 3rd, Cabo Verde 4th, Namibia 5th and South Africa 6th. South Sudan 53rd, Eritrea 52nd, Central African Republic 51st, and Libya 49th were at the bottom of the ranking.
