The white house, and for the first time in 20 years did not organize an Iftar to celebrate Ramadan. According to the CNN, President Donald Trump and first Lady Melania Trump instead wished the Muslim community residing in the USA a happy Eid in a statement released on Saturday. In their statement the presidential couple urged «Muslims in the United States joined those around the world during the holy month of Ramadan to focus on acts of faith and charity», adding that : «now, as they commemorate Eid with family and friends, they carry on the tradition of helping neighbors and breaking bread with people from all walks of life». According to the same source, the tradition of hosting an Iftar feast in the white house was first initiated by President Bill Clinton and then carried out through out the three proceeding administrations. Iftars were mainly attended by members of the Muslim community and and number of Muslim senior officials. For the record, Donald Trump has been accused of having «fraught relationship» with Muslims in the USA. He executed the ban travel which enabled many Muslim people to travel to the USA.
