Sam Toledano and Vicy Benchertit, two Moroccan Jewish were murdered last year in Casablanca, can now rest in peace. The murderer was sentenced on Monday to death by the Criminal Chamber of Casablanca court of Appeal, Alyaoum 24 reports. A decision that confirms the first ruling pronounced by the court against Mustapha R. (51), who used to work as a gardener at the Toledos house. The wife of the murderer was also sentenced to two years of imprisonment, the same source indicates. The Criminal Chamber also upheld the first-instance verdict against two jewelry shop owners, acquitting one and sentenced the other to one year in prison. The Judicial Police of Casablanca arrested Mustapha R. on 8th of July 2016 for murder, robbery and mutilation of the bodies of two Jewish Moroccans. The investigations made it possible to determine the gardener's involvement in the assassination of the couple. «The latter has mutilated the bodies of the victims before getting rid of them in different places in Casablanca (...) Theft is the main motive of this crime, the alleged murderer having taken the valuable jewels of the couple», Said the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) in a statement.
