Dangerous waves, reaching between 4 and 6.5 meters, will hit the Strait of Gibraltar and the Atlantic coast between Cap Spartel and Tarfaya from Monday afternoon, according to the Ministry of Equipment and Water. The swells will be west to north-westerly, with periods of between 10 and 14 seconds. The most severe conditions are expected on Monday night, particularly between Tangier-Med and Cap Spartel on the Strait, and between Cap Spartel and Cap Hadid on the Atlantic coast. Strong south-westerly winds will also be blowing from Monday morning between Cap Spartel and Essaouira, then in the evening over the Strait. High tides will reach between 3.2 and 3.8 meters in the early hours of the morning (between 04:30 and 05:20) and late afternoon (between 16:50 and 17:30) on Monday and Tuesday. A gradual improvement in sea conditions is expected from Tuesday afternoon onwards, says the Ministry, which will issue detailed alert bulletins as the situation develops.
