A 25-year-old Moroccan died in Turkey after being thrown out of a window by three of his cousins from an apartment they had rented in Istanbul. The tragic incident took place on Saturday, February 15, in Fatih, a municipality and district of Istanbul Province. The Moroccan national, identified as Ilyas Belaiz, was thrown out by three of his cousins, who were under the influence of drugs. Turkish media reports that Ilyas Belaiz arrived in Turkey with a cousin in February. This cousin contacted two others in Turkey to arrange housing. The three cousins took Belaiz to a house in Aksaray, where the incident occurred at around 7 PM on Saturday. Inside the apartment, the three cousins started using drugs, which Belaiz refused to partake in. Under the influence of drugs, the three began arguing with Belaiz over his refusal. As the argument escalated, they beat him and then threw him out of the window. Falling from about 10 meters, Belaiz was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital. CCTV footage showed glass shattering before he hit the ground. Moroccan national Ilyas Belaiz could not be saved despite all medical interventions at the hospital. Police teams arrived at the scene after being notified and began reviewing security camera footage. The police, who spotted the suspects leaving the building, quickly apprehended the three cousins. They were taken into custody, pending trial.
