Queen Máxima of the Netherlands attended the MODA exhibition at the Central Museum in Utrecht on Wednesday. This exhibition showcases Moroccan fashion and is open to the public until March 2, 2025. During the exhibition, Queen Máxima spoke with designers about their work and inspiration. She also met other creators from MODA and Central Museum staff. «With MODA, we aim to convey the energy of contemporary makers with a connection to Morocco», said Ninke Bloemberg, curator of fashion at the Central Museum. «Beyond stereotypes, from high fashion to streetwear and from hyperlocal to international, MODA is vibrant». At the opening, co-curators Zineb Seghrouchni and Ninke Bloemberg shared their views on fashion. They also presented the first copy of the MODA book to Queen Máxima. MODA seeks to challenge perceptions of Moroccan fashion. «Most people associate Moroccan fashion with kaftans», says Seghrouchni, «but there's so much more, including influences that parallel global fashion trends». This private opening was followed by a second festive opening for over 600 invited guests.
