Brazil welcomes the serious and credible efforts made by Morocco to solve the Sahara dispute, within the framework of the autonomy initiative presented by the Kingdom in 2007. This position was voiced in a joint communiqué adopted at the end of talks held in Rabat on Friday between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita and his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira, during an official visit to Morocco. Brazil, which held the presidency of the UN Security Council in October 2023 when Resolution 2703 was adopted, reiterated its support for UN efforts to find a political and mutually acceptable solution to the Sahara issue in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.
