Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA), an Arab world prize that provides financial and business support to fashion designers in the MENA region, will be moving its annual ceremony from Doha, Qatar, to Marrakech, Morocco, according to a report by fashion-industry trade journal Women's Wear Daily on Tuesday. The decision reflects FTA's «commitment to expanding our reach and fostering cultural exchange within the region», Tania Fares, cofounder of Fashion Trust, told the same magazine. «Marrakech has a very vibrant heritage and dynamic atmosphere that provides an ideal backdrop for celebrating Arab creativity and talent. By hosting the FTA Prize in Morocco, we can amplify the platform's impact and showcase the diversity of Arab fashion to a global audience», she added. The 2024 award ceremony, scheduled for October, will explore and celebrate Moroccan heritage. «We are excited about the opportunities this move presents and look forward to a successful event in Marrakech», said Fares. Sponsored by honorary chair Sheikha Moza bint Nasser of Qatar and cochairs Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani and Tania Fares, the annual event awards designers from the Middle East through six different categories. The Marrakech edition will see the addition of a seventh category, namely the Fashion Tech Award 2024.
