Backed by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, and in cooperation with the Moroccan National Tourism Office, Ryanair plans to more than double the number of its annual passengers in Morocco, from 4.5 million currently to over 10 million passengers by 2027. According to a press release by the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, the company's development plan in Morocco is targeting three main objectives : launching 24 new international air routes, dedicating two aircrafts to the city of Tangier, and launching domestic airlines linking 9 Moroccan cities. Fatima-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicraft, and Social and Solidarity Economy: «We welcome this great news for the Moroccan aerial landscape which is experiencing exceptional growth, and which will contribute to achieving the Tourism roadmap which aims, by 2026, to attract 17.5 million tourists. Particular attention is paid to internal tourism, which will benefit from a strong boost thanks to this new dynamic». Within the framework of this exceptional development project, the government will allow Ryanair to operate specific domestic flights between some Moroccan cities. Minister of Transport and Logistics Mohamed Abdeljalil: «With this new partnership, our country continues to benefit from its open skies policy. In addition to doubling its international air offering by 2027, Ryanair will develop a domestic air offering by opening eleven new transversal routes starting summer of 2024. These routes will strengthen air connectivity within the Kingdom and give an unprecedented boost in the domestic air transport market». Consequently, by next summer, Ryanair's new program will include the opening of 11 new domestic airlines to 9 Moroccan destinations: Agadir, Errachidia, Essaouira, Fez, Marrakesh, Ouarzazate, Oujda, Tangier and Tetouan. This offer will be an addition to the historical presence of Royal Air Maroc in this sector, in addition to Air Arabia. According to the same press release, these new flights will also contribute significantly to alleviating the isolation of some Moroccan cities, such as Ouarzazate, Essaouira, and Errachidia. They will also allow foreign visitors to extend their stay in many cities, thus enhancing tourism in all regions of Morocco. In addition, these trips will provide domestic tourism with a significant boost, by facilitating travel within the country. Other destinations will also be included in the coming seasons, including Dakhla and Nador, among others. As for international connectivity, the company will launch, as early as the summer of 2024, 24 new air routes to Morocco, from 8 strategic markets: Germany, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden and the United Kingdom. It will include six Moroccan destinations: Marrakesh with 9 new airlines, Tangier (8), Agadir (3), Beni Mellal (2), and the new opening of Fez and Rabat.
