Some 60 teachers and 1,000 students from three universities and four vocational training establishments have benefited from the British Council's Taqqadam Maroc program for the year 2021. This 12-week program is organized at the initiative of the British Cultural Institute in partnership with the Department for National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research. It includes online teacher training, provision of resources for teachers, use of the Taqaddam Life Skills app as well as a series of webinars and online workshops, said the British Council in a statement. The program, whose virtual Make It Happen ceremony and closing event were held on Tuesday, aims to help young people from several universities and vocational training institutions to develop essential life skills. All Taqaddam activities are planned to provide young people with a better understanding of life skills and to demonstrate these skills to others, including employers. British Council Morocco Director Tom Reilly noted that the Taqqadam program has helped more than a thousand young Moroccans acquire the life skills they need to thrive in the 21st century, adding that employers are looking for skills such as teamwork, problem solving, communication and collaboration. The Make It Happen event is an opportunity for students to put into action the life skills they have explored in workshops, courses and webinars and to demonstrate their newly developed skills. The program also allowed educators to support young people to acquire greater self-awareness, feel more connected with others and develop essential skills to navigate the future and take ownership of their personal learning and development.
