The Atlas Lions have dominated the game against Namibia's Brave Warriors, Sunday, in Egypt's Al Salam stadium. It was only after a series of missed opportunities, that a goal was scored by Namibian striker Itamunua Keimuine, allowing the Moroccan team to win the match. It was a stressful match, full of missed opportunities that the Moroccan national football team managed to win, Sunday in Cairo, securing its first three points at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). The Atlas Lions won the game against Namibia's Brave Warriors after Namibian striker Itamunua Keimuine scored an own goal during the 89th minute of the match. Although they dominated the Brave Warriors, the Atlas Lions let go of several opportunities to score. At the very beginning of the first half of this game, the Moroccan team couldn't reach the other half of the field to score. By the 10th minute of the game, Nabil Dirar missed the opportunity to score after a pass from Hakim Ziyech. In the 19th minute, the Ajax winger tried to shoot from outside the goal area, but in vain. A second ball was pulled by the Dutch-Moroccan player, in the 36th minute, but it was blocked by the Namibian goalkeeper. Winning the game without scoring a goal During the second half, the national team put pressure on its opponents with several missed opportunities. In the 56th minute, Morocco's Soufiane Boufal was replaced by Mehdi Bourania. The attacking midfielder for Celta Vigo tried his luck, a few minutes later, without being able to score. Karim El Ahmadi joined the field at the 69th minute to replace Youssef Ait Bennasser. A golden opportunity was once again missed in the 71st minute, blocked by the Namibian goalkeeper, followed by another one a minute later. Youssef En-Nesyri was finally replaced in the 77th minute by Khalid Boutaleb. Namibian player Itamunua Keimuine scored an own goal, giving the Lions three valuable points and a first provisional position at the top of Group D. The Moroccan football team will face Côte d'Ivoire next Friday at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo at 7 pm, before playing its third match against South Africa, scheduled for July 1 at 6 pm.
