Algeria and South Africa reaffirmed, Thursday 30th of August, their support for «the cause of the Sahrawi people», at a press conference jointly held in Cape town by the Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel and his South African counterpart, Lindiwe Sisulu. «South Africa and Algeria remain firm in their support for people of Western Sahara», said Messahel, quoted by the Algerian press agency (APS). After praising the «efforts made by the African Union Special Envoy for Western Sahara (…) Joaquim Chissano, and the UN Personal Envoy for Western Sahara Horst Kohler», the South African minister announced that a «conference to support the Polisario and the people of Western Sahara» will be held soon by the Southern African Development Community (SADC). «We will be providing the Polisario with the necessary financial support to carry out administrative works and we will be hosting the conference to make that possible», said Lindiwe Sisulu. For the record, Morocco appointed former delegate minister for Foreign Affairs Youssef Amrani as Rabat's ambassador to Pretoria.
