A 28-year-old has been the first Muslim woman to be fined for wearing a full-face veil in public in Denmark, after the ban got implemented in Wednesday, says the BBC. The police noticed the woman when she had a fight with another woman in a shopping center in Copenhagen. She was fined when she refused to remove the veil, said the same source. According to a report issued by the police, one woman was trying to snatch the other's veil. The new ban indicates that «anyone who wears a garment that hides the face in public will be punished with a fine». «During the fight her niqab came off, but by the time we arrived she had put it back on again», wrote the BBC, quoting police spokesperson David Borchersen who spoke to the Ritzau news agency. The two women were charged for «violating the peace», while one of them was also fined for wearing the full-face veil. On Wednesday in Denmark, and when the full-face law came into effect several women took the streets, protesting against the ban. Protesters were wearing burqas calling the new decision «discriminatory».
