Muslim inmates held in a prison in Anchorage, Alaska claim having been fed pork in Ramadan, says local media quoted by the French Press Agency. The Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Muslim civil rights and advocacy group, revealed the case, denouncing the «cruel and unusual punishment». Judicial authorities in Alaska ordered prison guards on Thursday (May 24th) to provide them with «adequate meals». For its part, the association said it had lodged a complaint against the heads of the local prison administration, as well as prison guards. According to the complaint, inmates were offered special meals for Ramadan that were too low in calories and Bolognese sandwiches containing pork. «CAIR has reported an unprecedented spike in bigotry targeting American Muslims and members of other minority groups since the election of Donald Trump as President», the Washington-based organization said in a statement. A federal judge granted a restraining order on Thursday forcing prison guards in Alaska to stop giving Muslim inmates pork.
