Startup.Info, a collaborative magazine dedicated to the promotion of startups started in 2011, has revealed on Thursday, 25th of January, during a ceremony held in Casablanca the names of winners of the competition «Startup of the Year Africa 2018», reports the magazine in a communiqué sent to Yabiladi. In partnership with major international groups, such as OCP, ENGIE, QWANT, Finance Innovation, PwC, Labs-NS-Avocats, Holmarcon Group, Royal Air Maroc, Growth Experts, and more than 70 media ecosystem partnership, Startup.Info, organized the second edition of the competition that awarded a number of African and European startups. This year, Startup.Info named HydroIQ from Kenya, a virtual Water Network Operator, Startup of the year 2018. The QWANT public choice award was granted to Ecodome, a Moroccan startup that produces ecotouristic housing made of natural soil in form of domes. Meanwhile, the OCP Agrithech special prize was handed over to Cote d'Ivoire's Grace Agricole de Cote d'Ivoire, a startup aiming at the development of rice production in Ivory Coast. Peachwater Consulting from Nigeria was also awarded ENGIE's energy startup of the year for its Powerstove clean cookstove that is smokeless and generates electricity with 70% less biomass fuel than competitors. The African Diaspora award, presented by RAM was received by Semoa, a French company that proposes the development of e-commerce in Africa. Holmarcon's special award was for France's Thea, an app that connects patients to doctors while PwC jury award was granted to South African Priyo for its portable solar digital smart computer lab. Finnally the community manager of the year prize was for Project Alha from Madagascar. The winners will receive prizes ranging from 10,000 € in Cash and a 10,000 € Visibility Pack, inaddition to other awards granted by Startup.Info's partners.
