A 26-year-old Moroccan national who has threatened to throw himself from the window carrying his girlfriend's baby is detained in Dresden, capital of the eastern German state of Saxony, and is facing 6 months to 10 years in prison. According to Sachsische Zeitung, a German newspaper, the man argued with his girlfriend on Sunday, then things escalated when he climbed to a window and attempted to jump while holding an 8-month baby. The same source also indicates that the man was holding a knife. According to the police, the Moroccan national had a dispute with his partner and that they both alongside the baby live in the same house. The incident began around 2 in the afternoon. When firefighters arrived, they rescued the baby and pulled the man from the window, he was later sent to the police station. Detained since Sunday, the man could face 6 months to 10 years in prison. The man is under investigation in the Dresden correctional institution while the mother and her child are currently in the hospital as the woman is in need of psychological support. According to the prosecutor's office, further investigations are being carried out.
