French Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin will meet his Moroccan counterpart, Abdellatif Ouahbi, this Sunday in Rabat to deepen cooperation between the two countries in the fight against terrorism and organized crime. This visit is part of a diplomatic rapprochement and the strengthening of Franco-Moroccan judicial exchanges. In recent weeks, several events have highlighted this dynamic. At the end of February, two alleged accomplices of drug trafficker Mohamed Amra were arrested in Marrakech at the request of the French justice system. Suspected of having participated in Amra's spectacular escape in Normandy last May, they could be extradited to France. In January, another significant blow was dealt to organized crime with the extradition to France of Félix Bingui, also known as «The Cat». Described by Darmanin as one of the most influential French drug traffickers, he is suspected of leading the Yoda clan, which dominates drug trafficking in Marseille. Beyond issues related to organized crime, the topic of consular passes might also be discussed. These documents allow for the deportation of undocumented immigrants without passports. Last October, Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau announced from Rabat that an agreement had been reached to expedite the deportation procedures for individuals under an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF).
