Staffan de Mistura is expected to brief Security Council members on the latest political developments in this matter, particularly since the adoption of Resolution 2756 on October 31, 2024. As a reminder, last October, during a closed-door meeting of the Security Council, Staffan de Mistura expressed his intention to resign. «If he wants to resign, we will not stop him. It is his right», responded Omar Hilale, Morocco's permanent representative to the UN. Staffan de Mistura has held this position since November 2021.
