NBA Africa and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), through its subsidiary EVOSPORT, have announced a groundbreaking collaboration to enhance youth basketball in Morocco. This initiative will establish the country's first NBA basketball school and launch four Jr. NBA leagues, marking the most comprehensive youth basketball development program the League has ever introduced in Morocco. The Jr. NBA leagues will cater to approximately 2,000 young athletes under the age of 18 across the cities of Khouribga, Gantour, Laâyoune, and El Jadida. In addition, more than 200 coaches will receive specialized training. EVOSPORT will implement this project in partnership with Act4Community, an entity of the OCP Group, thereby bolstering the sports ecosystem in both Morocco and Africa. The official signing ceremony was held at UM6P's European headquarters in Paris, attended by UM6P President Hicham El Habti, NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum, NBA Africa CEO Clare Akamanzi, and Basketball Africa League (BAL) President Amadou Gallo Fall. This initiative builds on prior projects by NBA Africa and the OCP Group, which have already launched Jr. NBA leagues in other Moroccan cities. To date, these collaborative efforts have benefited over 100,000 young people and coaches through basketball development programs. Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, a pivotal component of the OCP Group ecosystem, emphasizes innovation and human development. Through EVOSPORT, it aims to create a sustainable sports ecosystem, aligning with Morocco's national vision to become a regional and global sports hub. The OCP Group, via its Act4Community initiative, is committed to supporting innovative civic projects that leverage sports, culture, and entrepreneurship to foster local community development.
