Morocco has resumed its orange exports to the United States after a significant drop in 2023, according to EastFruit. In the first 11 months of 2024, Moroccan orange exports reached a new record high. From January to November, more than 20,000 tons of oranges were shipped to the US market, representing a 3.5-fold increase compared to 2023, and about 10% higher than the previous record set in 2022. Export revenues also set a record of US$29.6 million. Prior to 2013, shipments of Moroccan oranges to the United States were sporadic and irregular. But since 2013, exports have been annualized. Morocco was able to export more than 10,000 tons of oranges to the USA in both 2018 and 2022. Remarkably, last year exports exceeded 20,000 tons for the first time. Currently, the USA is the main importer of Moroccan oranges, accounting for more than 40% of Morocco's total orange exports in 2024. The peak export period for Moroccan oranges runs from April to July. During this period, Morocco faces little competition, as the orange export seasons from Chile and South Africa have just started, while Mexico's season is wrapping up. Last year, Morocco extended its orange export season to the United States to September and October.
