Morocco and Iran continue their consultations initiated last November in Rabat. After meetings at the security service level, held in the Kingdom, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates, the rapprochement between the two countries has reached a new stage. We learn that Rabat and Tehran have included diplomats in the negotiation process. Members of Morocco's Permanent Mission to the United Nations have met their Iranian counterparts in New York. On the Western Sahara question, Iran could soften its stance towards greater neutrality. As a reminder, the Iranian regime has recognized «SADR» since 1980. This decision was immediately followed by the Kingdom's announcement that it would break off diplomatic relations with Iran for the first time. Rabat made the same decision in March 2009, defending Bahrain's territorial sovereignty, and in May 2018 because of Iranian military support for the Polisario through the Lebanese Shiite organization Hezbollah.
