The UN Security Council has postponed the vote on a new resolution regarding the Sahara issue until tomorrow, Thursday, October 31st. The postponement is said to be due to an «agenda issue» on the part of the UN's executive body, particularly in light of recent developments in the Middle East, a source close to the matter told Yabiladi on Wednesday. On Monday, Algeria withdrew its request for another round of consultations to examine the US draft resolution, paving the way for its adoption according to the agenda set by the Swiss presidency. On the same day, Algeria instructed its ambassador in Moscow to meet with a senior Russian Foreign Ministry official. Algerian diplomat Boumediene Guennad was received on October 28th by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin. «During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on a number of issues on the agenda of the UN Security Council. Particular attention was paid to the situation in the Middle East and the problem of Western Sahara», Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
