The Polisario Front is once again angry at one of the European Union vital institutions. In fact, the separatist movement believes that the adoption of the Euro-Mediterranean EU-Morocco agreement on air transport undermines the «international rights of the Sahrawi people». Th Polisario Front is frustrated with the latest Euro-Mediterranean EU-Morocco air agreement adopted by the European Parliament, a directly elected parliamentary institution of the European Union. On Tuesday, 24 of October, 511 members of the EU institution out of 751 voted for the implementation of the agreement during a plenary session held in Strasbourg, France. The agreement, as described by the European Commission official website, «is an extensive alignment of aviation legislation» that will offer «a gradual opening of market access between Morocco and the EU, providing substantial opportunities for passengers and industry on both sides». The Polisario's anger On the other hand, the separatist movement could not hide its anger regarding this new step. In an article issued by the Front's «news agency», Mohamed Sidati «the minister delegate for Europe» expressed his discontent with the EU's decision. For him, the adoption of the Euro-Mediterranean EU-Morocco agreement on air transport «strengthens illegal occupation and violates the international rights of the Sahrawi people». Sidati also stated in a communiqué that he wrote that such an agreement «undermines the political process led under the aegis of the United Nations». Moreover, Sidati added saying : «this vote is another example of the European legislators' attempts to bypass the European Union law for relations with Morocco». And to defend the Front's argument, the same source referred to the 21st of December 2016 verdict indicating that «the EU cannot conclude agreements with Morocco». The adoption of the Euro-Mediterranean EU-Morocco agreement comes as the kingdom is trying to overcome the obstacles set by the Court of Justice of the European Union previous verdict. In the same context, Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has recently held talks with Federica Mogherini, the current High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. This setback comes as the Polisario has announced that it wants to sue Transavia which has just launched a airline route linking Paris to Dakhla.
