Edna Imade, a rising star in Spanish women's football, could be the next big thing for Nigeria's national team, the Super Falcons. The 22-year-old forward's remarkable journey began in 2000 when her pregnant mother left Nigeria, crossing the Sahara Desert to reach Morocco, where Edna and her twin brother Paul were born. According to Soccernet, the Imad family spent three months in Morocco before emigrating to Spain, where they faced many challenges upon arrival, eventually settled in Seville. Despite the difficulties, Edna's passion for football flourished, and she began playing on boys' teams at the age of six in the small town of Carmona. Imade's talent quickly became apparent as she transitioned to indoor football, scoring nearly 100 goals in two seasons for Nervión, a club in the second Andalusian women's division. Her impressive performances led to stints with Málaga CF Femenino, Cacereño Femenino, and most recently, Granada CF, where she has scored five goals in her first eight league games this season. As the Super Falcons prepare for the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, Edna Imade's potential call-up could provide a much-needed boost to Nigeria's attacking options. While she has yet to visit her parents' homeland, the opportunity to represent Nigeria could allow Imade to connect with her roots and contribute to the team's quest for continental glory.
