Gyms and sports facilities in Casablanca will finally be able to reopen doors after a closure that lasted almost seven months. Driss Chraïbi, deputy president of the Moroccan Association of Professionals in the Fitness and Rehabilitation Industry (AMPIF), confirmed the decision, mentioned by gym owners in the city. Speaking to media, the official said that gyms will resume their activities on Monday, March 22. He said that gym owners received calls from local authorities, who informed them of the decision in accordance with the agreed sanitary procedures, such as social distancing and not exceeding 50% of the capacity of each room. Driss Chraïbi said that the authorities' decision will be communicated to other gym owners. Sports facilities in the city had opened doors in June, after 3 months of closure due to the lockdown. However, they were ordered to close again in August. At the beginning of March, the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) announced the decision to allocate lump-sum allowances for the benefit of employees of private sports facilities in difficult situations. These allowances cover the period from July 1, 2020 until May 31, 2021. On Thursday, hammams in the city were also allowed to reopen doors after months of closure.
