The Spanish government delegation announced, Monday, that a humanitarian operation will take place «very soon», to repatriate around 100 Moroccans who have been stranded in the city since the start of the pandemic. According to local newspapers El Faro de Ceuta and Ceutaldia, the government delegate Salvadora Mateos said that it is «in contact with Morocco» to organize the repatriation operation. She added that around 100 Moroccans are already registered on the list set up by the Spanish authorities. «We are maintaining contact with the Moroccan authorities, I think this operation can be carried out soon», she said. Asked about other issues related to Morocco, Salvadora Mateos reiterated the fact that «the Tarajal border will not open, as long as the pandemic situation continues with its current figures». She also said she has no information about the Strait Crossing Operation (STO) scheduled for this summer. Although closed since March due to the pandemic, Ceuta's border with Morocco has opened on two occasions, in May and September 2020, to repatriate stranded Moroccans in this city.
